Statement from Nurse Dan about the border crisis and events unfolding on Martha's Vineyard - 9/15/22

Dear Fellow Citizens and Residents of the MA-9th Congressional District,

One of the key issues that was front and center of my campaign for the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress in the 9th District was the lack of clear and coherent border control and security at our national borders and a comprehensive common-sense immigration policy in compliance and consistent with the U.S. Constitution, U.S. law and international law.  As I have previously stated unambiguously on NurseDanforCongress.org, "illegal migration particularly across our southern border is a national emergency and a humanitarian and public health crisis."  Moreover, we have warned that "over 95% of all the fentanyl that floods our communities and country comes from China via Mexico into the United States and ultimately into our neighborhoods, communities, and country causing pain and suffering, death and misery" -- including right here in Massachusetts, especially Barnstable and Bristol counties.

The mass migration of illegal migrants, and in many instances the mass importation of addictive and deadly drugs, has flowed into the Commonwealth, to our district, to our communities, and into our neighborhoods.  This crisis, years in the making due to the cowardice and incoherence of our Congress, has increased exponentially under the Biden administration and our state legislature on Beacon Hill who actively promote the sanctuary status for illegal migrants-- exacerbating the opioid crisis, the affordable housing crisis, the public health crisis and the law and order crisis within our district and across the Commonwealth.

Within the past 24 hours, two planes landed in our district on Martha's Vineyard from the state of Florida, with migrants who did not enter the United States legally and were not vetted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.  And more planes are en route from Texas and Alabama, among others.  It is unclear what lies next for these people, who have been used as political pawns by the so-called Progressives who have overthrown the Democratic Party-- formerly known as the People's Party.  It is even more unclear what policies and border security measures will be taken by the Biden administration and their enablers in sanctuary states like Massachusetts, to prevent and prosecute continued illegal entry into the United States, our Commonwealth, and our local communities.

Nurse Dan will continue to support a comprehensive common-sense approach to stem the flow of mass illegal migration and related criminal activities including human/sex/drug trafficking including prosecuting the bad actors for crimes against humanity.  Nurse Dan is also fully aware that many illegal migrants are not engaged in criminal activities, but are seeking a better life for themselves and their families.  To that end and to encourage legal and lawful immigration into the United States, which has always been a cornerstone to the greatness of our nation,  I will continue to support such laws, with priority consideration to immigrants with applied science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills to help make America free and great.

Nurse Dan commends the exemplary leadership that the Republican gubernatorial candidate, Geoff Diehl, has taken with his statement today, September 15th, 2022, regarding the border crisis and the events that are unfolding on Martha's Vineyard and across the Commonwealth.  More definitive and decisive action needs to be taken, but Mr. Diehl's statement of fact should be fully and completely embraced by all the citizens and residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, regardless of political partisanship, political ideology or identity politics, as a comprehensive common-sense assessment of our current crisis at the southern border, and the impact it is having on sanctuary cities and states like the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
