Dear Constituents,
Dan Sullivan is the Republican nominee for the Ninth Congressional District of Massachusetts in the United States Congress. The 9th District (MA-9) encompasses the South Shore, South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands.
Massachusetts is the birthplace of our country. Our beginnings are built upon people's labors, sacrifices, and sufferings for the cause of liberty and freedom. The pillars upon which our forefathers founded our Commonwealth and Republic are faith, morality, law, education, and freedom.
Sadly, the promise of liberty, freedom, peace, prosperity, health, happiness, and the genuine opportunity to pursue the American Dream that has defined our state and country are at risk. Our leaders are failing us. They are playing us for fools.
My father, Daniel, and my mother, Barbara, raised me in a working middle-class family. My father worked two jobs his entire career—a public school teacher by day and a television news photographer by night. Together, they raised six children in a household filled with love and laughter. They emphasized the importance of a good education and a strong work ethic. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Marquette University. I worked in business development and sales for companies ranging from Fortune 1000 firms to start-ups.
After finding business success, I decided to pursue more meaningful work. I attended nursing school at night and on weekends while working full-time during the day for four years, earning an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Lawrence Memorial Hospital/ Regis College Nursing School and a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from Regis College.
As a registered nurse, I have worked in an acute care community hospital serving a diverse demographic, including a large local immigrant population, and in a forensic psychiatric hospital. I’m an active labor union member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA), SEIU Local 1199 United Healthcare Workers East, and the American Nurses Association (ANA). I love my RN work. I’m blessed to help patients achieve optimal health outcomes.
Like so many of you, I’m disturbed about the current state of affairs and the policies and priorities of our leaders. I’m perturbed by the career politicians who care more about themselves than us. I’m tired of the elitists and entitled class who game the system at the expense of us. I’m troubled by the existential threat of our state’s accelerated unaffordability and expansive political monopoly.
Today, Massachusetts is the least affordable state to live in the United States. Massachusetts collects the 5thmost taxes per person in the country. Redfin and Zillow found that the annual income needed to afford a median-priced home in Metro Boston was $194,188—a 40% increase in the past 3 ½ years. The Greater Boston Association of Realtors reported that the median sales price for a single-family home is $950,000. Forbes Magazine reported that Massachusetts has the highest cost of living—requiring an average household income of nearly $302,000 to live comfortably.
To make matters worse, Massachusetts has experienced a 1,100% increase in the exodus of young wage earners and high-net income taxpayers who are exiting in droves to pro-business, tax-friendly states such as Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Florida, and Texas. People want to thrive, not just survive.
Boston University found that the largest segment of people leaving based solely on numbers are aged 26 to 34, and the largest segment of people leaving based on adjusted gross income level are aged 55 to 64.
High inflation, higher cost of living, and higher taxes have accelerated this brain drain and tax-base erosion. Mass illegal migration and the political monopoly have made matters worse. Municipalities are proposing Prop 2 ½ Overrides and Exclusions. Beacon Hill is proposing municipal taxes. Excessive taxation and fees and uncontrolled spending are unsustainable and nonsensical.
Today, Massachusetts is the most one-party-ruled state in the country. One party controls the offices of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Auditor, Governor’s Council, 10 out of 11 District Attorneys, and both chambers of the state legislature— including 134 out of 160 State Representative seats, and 36 out of 40 State Senate seats. The same party controls all 9 U.S. House of Representatives seats and both U.S. Senate seats.
When in the history of our state and country has a monopoly benefited the majority and not just a few?
Not surprisingly, our voices and choices are not being heard or honored. Chaos and crises have overrun common sense and reason. Confusion has created division. Control has uprooted our constitution.
As extreme special interests exert greater control over our leaders, our lives, and lifestyles, I choose to step out of the Silent Majority and step up to help restore the balance of power to our government, common sense in our governance, and greater opportunity and justice for our people.
I’m the common-sense choice. I ask for your vote this November.
God Save the Commonwealth! God Bless America!
Nurse Dan for U.S. Congress
My name is Dan Sullivan and I’m the Republican nominee for the 9th Congressional District of Massachusetts, encompassing the South Shore, South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands.
Some people may think it’s a fool’s errand to run as a Republican in this state. Remember, in 1972, Massachusetts was the only state in the country that voted for the socialist George McGovern.
Today, the Democrat Party controls 86.2% of elected offices, 98.8% of the bureaucracy, all 9 Congressional and both Senate seats, the Governor’s Office, and every statewide office.
The question is whether one-party rule is good for a healthy democracy.
If you’re satisfied with the status quo, or you like more of the same, then your choice is clear. Vote for Bill Keating again.
The status quo has made Bill Keating a very wealthy man. In the past 3 ½ years, Bill Keating has spent more time in Europe drumming up support for the war in Ukraine than he has invested in our district. War has been very good for Keating’s stock portfolio.
Remember, Keating voted for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and is the #1 cheerleader in Congress for war in Ukraine. Keating shows no interest in peace.
I’m not a professional politician. I don’t want to become a career politician. If anything, I’m the anti-politician.
I’m a registered nurse. I’m committed to prudence and good judgment. I advise my patients “Everything in moderation, including moderation.” I believe moderation is the key to health and wellness in life, leisure, work, and politics.
We have no moderation in our politics and policies. “It’s win-at-all-costs.” “It’s my way or the highway.” “It’s the-ends-justify-the-means.” Is that how you want your democracy to work? I don’t.
I can promise you this—unlike Bill Keating who voted for the disastrous Bidenomics, the Joe Biden Build Back Better Bust, the fraudulent American Rescue Plan, and the failed Inflation Reduction Act—I will never be a rubber stamp for bad policies, bad laws, or bad actors.
The question is not whether it’s Left versus Right, it’s about Right from Wrong. There’s a proverb that says “Mighty oak trees grow from acorns.” I want to be that acorn of progress and change for you.
I’m Nurse Dan Sullivan, and I ask for your vote for Congress.
Thank you.
