The purpose of education is to broaden perspectives, focusing on academics rather than activism, instruction rather than indoctrination, ideas rather than ideology, and free thought rather than dogma. Nurse Dan believes education should teach youth how to think, not what to think.
Nurse Dan supports parental school choice to foster competition among schools. He opposes teachers’ unions and school districts that compromise education or push political agendas. He advocates for school choice, vouchers, charter and magnet schools, home-school co-ops, and vocational learning.
Nurse Dan aims to make public higher education more affordable by reducing the bloated payrolls, pensions, and perks of overpaid administrators and bureaucrats. In Massachusetts, 96 of the 100 highest-paid state employees work at UMASS.
He supports chargebacks for student loan forgiveness to the colleges that received government-backed loans but failed to deliver adequate career outcomes. Nurse Dan also supports a 100% tax deduction for principal and interest repayments on government-backed student loans.
Nurse Dan advocates for publicly funded vocational education and training for low-income residents, the underemployed, and the unemployed, helping them transition off public assistance into gainful employment in vital fields like healthcare and skilled trades
